Arunachal’s Rupa Bayor Becomes First Indian Taekwondo Athlete To Achieve World No. 6, Asia No. 1

Itanagar, Jan 5: Rupa Bayor from Arunachal Pradesh has made history by becoming the first Indian Taekwondo athlete to achieve World Rank 6 and Asia Rank 1.

The achievement drew praise from top state leaders. Chief Minister Pema Khandu called it a proud milestone for India, Arunachal Pradesh, and the Northeast, describing Bayor’s rise from Daporijo in Upper Subansiri as “truly inspiring,” and wished her continued success in global competitions.

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein lauded Bayor for putting Indian Taekwondo on the world map and motivating young athletes across the country, calling it “a great pride for Arunachal Pradesh and the Northeast.” BJP State President Kaling Moyong congratulated her for scripting history and expressed hope that she will continue to inspire future sports talent.

Bayor’s success reflects her dedication and sets a new benchmark for excellence in Indian Taekwondo.
