Arunachal’s Subi Taba Receives Best Debut Author Award At AutHer Awards 2026

Subi Taba, a poet and writer from Arunachal Pradesh, has been awarded the Best Debut Author at the AutHer Awards 2026, held in New Delhi. The award, presented by The Times of India and JK Paper, recognizes her book Tales from the Dawn Lit Mountains, which has received acclaim from readers and literary circles for its storytelling and depiction of Arunachal Pradesh’s culture and heritage.

Subi Taba, who also works as an agriculture development officer in Arunachal Pradesh, has previously received several literary recognitions. These include the 100 Inspiring Authors of India Award 2018 for her poetry anthology Dear Bohemian Man, the New Asian Writing Short Story Prize 2020, and a shortlist for the Twist and Twain Short Story Prize 2021. She was also awarded the South Asia Speaks 2021 Fellowship and won Penguin Random House’s The Perfect Pitch Season 1.

Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein congratulated Subi Taba on the achievement, noting that the honour highlights her contribution to literature and expressing best wishes for her future literary endeavours.
