Assam Man Shot Dead In Arunachal Pradesh Over Work Dispute

A man from Assam was allegedly shot dead on Sunday evening in Roing, Lower Dibang Valley district of Arunachal Pradesh, following a workplace altercation, according to police officials.

The deceased has been identified as Shankar Pegu, a resident of Borajuli village under Jinjiya police station in Assam’s Biswanath district.

Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) Chukhu Apa stated that the incident occurred during a dispute at the workplace, where Pegu was shot in the head with a pistol by Tadar Bhai, a resident of Sagalee in Arunachal Pradesh’s Papum Pare district.

After the incident, the accused transported Pegu to the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) in Naharlagun. Pegu succumbed to his injuries between 4 and 5 am on Monday.

The accused was taken into custody by Naharlagun police, and the weapon used in the shooting was recovered. He has since been transferred to Roing for further investigation. Authorities are awaiting the post-mortem report.
