Itanagar, Feb 14: Cooperatives are essential for strengthening rural entrepreneurship, promoting economic self-reliance, and generating sustainable livelihoods, said Denang Wangsu while addressing a two-day state-level cooperative conclave held in Pasighat under East Siang district.

Speaking at the inaugural session, Wangsu said cooperatives help farmers, youth, and women develop entrepreneurship skills while improving financial independence and long-term employment opportunities. He emphasised the need for departmental coordination and community participation to strengthen cooperative institutions and improve income opportunities and market access for rural households across the state.

Ojing Tasing also attended the inaugural programme and stressed the importance of coordinated efforts among departments to ensure effective implementation of welfare schemes and strengthen grassroots cooperatives through awareness and institutional support.

A presentation by a representative of Amul highlighted the organisation’s success through cooperative-based structures, transparent governance, efficient procurement systems, and value addition, contributing to its growth as one of India’s leading dairy brands.
