Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) K T Parnaik emphasized the need for a balanced approach in managing defence land, ensuring both national security needs and the well-being of local communities are addressed.
During a meeting with S N Gupta, Principal Director of Defence Estates under Eastern Command, Kolkata, at Raj Bhavan in Itanagar, the Governor stressed the importance of land management reforms. He highlighted the need to optimize the use of available defence land for infrastructure development without compromising military requirements.
Parnaik also called for improved collaboration between civil and military authorities to foster positive relations with local communities. He directed Gupta to ensure that all land acquisitions and leasing processes adhere to legal standards and are carried out with transparency and due diligence.
Gupta briefed the Governor on the current issues related to defence land in Arunachal Pradesh. The meeting was attended by Defence Estates Director K V Nagi Reddy and Defence Estate Officer Koli Akash Santosh.
