Itanagar, March 16: The second day of Arunachal Fashion Week 2026, The Artisans’ Movement brought a vibrant celebration of indigenous textiles and contemporary design at Interior Park, Naharlagun, under the theme Tribal Fusion.

The evening was graced by Dasanglu Pul, Hon’ble Minister for Women & Child Development, Science & Technology and Cultural Affairs, as Chief Guest, and Smti Nyabi Jini Dirchi, Hon’ble MLA, as Guest of Honour. They were welcomed by Dorjee Phuntso, Director of the Department of Textile & Handicrafts, alongside senior officials and organisers.
In her address, Dasanglu Pul praised the inspiring participation of women and the unique creations presented by designers across the state. “Platforms like this are extremely important as they bring our artisans and designers into the spotlight while encouraging the younger generation to take pride in our heritage,” she said.

Guest of Honour Nyabi Jini Dirchi highlighted the growing recognition of indigenous textiles, noting that weaving has always been integral to rural life. “Initiatives like this give new energy to our traditional crafts by presenting them in a contemporary and aspirational space like a fashion week,” she added.
The runway showcased collections inspired by Tribal Fusion, blending traditional handloom with modern silhouettes. Designers included Metam Veo (East Kameng), Osum Jerang Karlo (Upper Siang), Mina Ratan (Lohit), Nampi Joram (Keyi Panyor), Agasi Tayu (Dibang Valley), Jumter Angu (West Siang), and Yajir Mara (Upper Subansiri). A special weaver showcase by Yarok Pame (East Siang) highlighted the craftsmanship of Arunachal’s weaving traditions.
Musical performances by Bullo Tajung and Sangey Tsering added a lively cultural dimension to the evening.
Founder and CEO of Northeast India Fashion Week, Yana Ngoba Chakpu, reflected on the five-year journey of the Artisans’ Movement, describing it as a collaborative platform connecting designers, weavers, and creative professionals. COO Meena Noshi emphasized the growing involvement of youth in design, choreography, production, and styling, showcasing the confidence of Arunachal’s emerging fashion ecosystem.
Arunachal Fashion Week 2026 continues throughout the week with runway showcases, cultural performances, and exhibitions. The event will culminate on March 21 with Cultural Heritage Day and the Arunachal Fashion Week Awards Night, celebrating excellence in fashion design, modelling, and weaving while highlighting Arunachal Pradesh’s growing presence in India’s sustainable fashion landscape.
