The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall alert for the Northeastern region, forecasting intense showers in several states over the next two to three days. According to the IMD, isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall.
The department has warned of possible localized flooding, landslides, and disruption to transport and communication in vulnerable areas. Authorities have been advised to remain on alert and take necessary precautions.
In addition to the Northeast, heavy rain has also been predicted in Karnataka, Konkan, Goa, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Maharashtra, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Uttarakhand till Thursday.
The IMD has also forecast light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds in Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh till Friday.
