Itanagar, Jan 20: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Tuesday highlighted India’s electronics exports crossing the $47 billion mark in 2025, linking the growth to policy reforms and initiatives taken in recent years.

In a post on X, Khandu said the milestone reflected consistent reforms and pointed to the role of the Make in India programme in strengthening domestic manufacturing. He noted that the achievement was not incidental but the outcome of focused policies in the electronics sector.

As per available data for calendar year 2025, electronics exports recorded a year-on-year growth of around 37 per cent. Nearly $30 billion of exports came from smartphone manufacturing supported by the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. iPhone exports were reported at about $22 billion, accounting for roughly 46 per cent of total electronics exports. Around 75 per cent of smartphones exported from India are now domestically manufactured.

The sector recorded exports worth $4.17 billion in December, crossing the $4 billion monthly mark in seven months during the year. Electronics has emerged as India’s third-largest export sector and one of the fastest-growing categories.

Khandu said the shift from import dependence to higher domestic production indicated increased industry participation and the development of global value chains in India’s electronics manufacturing sector.
