Itanagar, May 16: The Indian Army’s Spear Corps, in coordination with the civil administration, DDMA, ITBP, CRPF, and BRO, conducted a joint flood relief and disaster management exercise at Kuporijo in Arunachal Pradesh’s Upper Subansiri district on Thursday.
The drill simulated a flood scenario, with the swift mobilisation of disaster response teams, including a relief column from the Subansiri Brigade. The Army employed Boat Assault Universal Type (BAUT) crafts to conduct rescue operations, evacuate stranded civilians, and establish functional medical and relief camps.
An equipment display showcased essential flood rescue tools, including BAUTs and pneumatic line throwers. Participants also received training in first-aid response for drowning cases, aimed at strengthening local preparedness and inter-agency coordination.
Colonel Sangam Kumar of the 13th Battalion, Rajputana Rifles, SP Mridul Yadav, and officials from various departments were present during the exercise.
