Heavy rainfall on Wednesday evening triggered five landslides near Jang, blocking the Jang Bypass and the Balipara–Charduar–Tawang (BCT) Road, a key route for the region.

The landslides temporarily stranded tourists and local residents. The Border Roads Organisation (BRO), under Project Vartak’s 42 Border Roads Task Force (BRTF), quickly deployed personnel and machinery to clear the roads despite challenging weather conditions.

BRO teams provided stranded travelers with food and drinking water while working through the night to remove debris. By midnight, the roads were reopened, allowing civilian vehicles, essential supplies, and military convoys to resume movement.

Officials noted that the swift response underscores the BRO’s role in maintaining connectivity across Arunachal Pradesh’s rugged and weather-prone areas, ensuring uninterrupted civilian and military mobility.
