Itanagar, July 4: Under ongoing Operation Dawn 2.0, the East Siang Police successfully apprehended one drug peddler and seized approximately 2.46 gms* of suspected heroin and cash amount of Rs. 3000/- and smart phone.
Acting on credible intelligence, which had led to seizure and apprehension of one drug peddler Obang Modi, 60 yrs, S/o Kyalop Modi, R/o GTC Area, Pasighat.
The ADS of East Siang Police planned an operation and red handedly caught Obang Modi who is a regular drug peddler since long time. The operation was led by ADS In charge, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ayup Boko which included SI K .Tangha, ASI R Lowang, Ct R. Rukbo, Ct B Tamut, and Ct R Lego.
The seizure was done in strict compliance with the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, in the presence of Executive Magistrate wherein a total of 2.46 grams of suspected heroin, were recovered during body search which was seized in presence of witnesses. The entire operation was videographed and photographed with e-Sakshya App.
The apprehended person was brought to PASIGHAT PS along with the seized items and handed over to the OC PS pasighat.
Accordingly, a case vide PSGT/PS/C/No. 51/2025 U/S – 21(a) of NDPS Act has been registered at Pasighat Police Station and investigation is underway after arrest of the accused.
Superintendent of Police, East Siang, Pankaj Lamba, IPS, commended the efforts of the ADS team and reiterated the district police’s firm commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against drug-related offenses. He further urged the public to report any such illicit activities, stressing that community cooperation is vital in ensuring a drug-free East Siang.
