President Droupadi Murmu will present the National Awards to Teachers 2025 on September 5, Teachers’ Day, recognising 45 outstanding educators from across India. Among them, seven teachers from the northeastern states have been selected, highlighting the region’s contribution to quality education.
The awardees from the Northeast include:
Nang Ekthani Mounglang – Govt. Sec. School Pachin, Papum Pare, Arunachal Pradesh
Peleno Petenilhu – John Govt. Higher Secondary School, Viswema, Kohima, Nagaland
Koijam Machasana – Ghari Upper Primary School, Imphal West, Manipur
Karma Tempo Ethenpa – PM SHRI Mangan SSS, Mangan, Sikkim
Dr. Heipor Uni Bang – K.B. Memorial Secondary School, Wapung, East Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya
Bidisha Majumder – Hariananda English Medium H.S. School, Gomati, Tripura
Debajit Ghosh – Namsang TE Model School, Dibrugarh, Assam
Each awardee will receive a certificate of merit, a silver medal, and a cash prize of ₹50,000. The ceremony will take place at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The teachers will also participate in an orientation and interaction session on September 3 at Hotel The Ashok, as part of their visit from September 3–6.
The National Awards to Teachers, instituted by the Ministry of Education’s Department of School Education and Literacy, honour educators who inspire students and contribute significantly beyond classroom teaching.
