Itanagar, Feb 17: The Supreme Court on Tuesday reserved its order on a petition demanding a CBI investigation into public works contracts awarded in Arunachal Pradesh to firms owned by relatives of Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
A bench comprising Justices Vikram Nath, Sandeep Mehta, and N V Anjaria directed counsel for all parties to file written submissions within two weeks.
Advocate Prashant Bhushan, representing petitioners Save Mon Region Federation and Voluntary Arunachal Sena, cited a recent state affidavit. He highlighted multiple contracts given to companies linked to the chief minister’s family, urging a CBI probe. “This is reeking of corruption,” Bhushan argued, claiming state police could not investigate impartially.
The court had previously, on December 2, 2025, asked the Arunachal Pradesh government for a detailed affidavit on contracts awarded from 2015 to 2025, including those to the CM’s family firms.
