Agartala, December 24, 2025: The administration has launched urgent efforts to trace several youths from Tripura who went to Arunachal Pradesh in search of work and have since fallen into distress. The matter came to light after families of the missing youths lodged a complaint at Kailashahar police station on Tuesday, prompting police and district officials to begin a formal investigation.
State minister and Chandipur MLA Tinku Roy has already informed the Arunachal Pradesh Labour and Employment Minister about the situation, seeking cooperation in the rescue operation.
On Wednesday, Kailashahar police station officer-in-charge Tapas Malakar established direct contact with Nayan Sabar, one of the stranded youths currently in a remote area of Arunachal Pradesh. Sabar confirmed that a group of 15 youths are together, though he could not provide details about the others reported missing.
Meanwhile, late Tuesday night, officials from the Social Welfare and Social Education Department, Childline, and the District Child Protection Unit visited families in the Kalishasan and Rangrung tea garden areas to assess the situation and reassure them. Following the complaint, police registered a case (No. KLS/PS/69/2025) and have also reached out to Belong police station in Arunachal Pradesh, where local officers have spoken with Nayan Sabar. Search operations are ongoing for those still untraced.
Administrative sources confirmed that a large team from Kailashahar’s police department will soon travel to Arunachal Pradesh to expedite the rescue of the missing youths and minors. Families back home remain anxious, waiting for their sons and brothers to return safely.
Despite being in Delhi at present, Minister Tinku Roy is reportedly maintaining regular communication with Arunachal Pradesh authorities to ensure swift action in the rescue efforts.
