Itanagar, Jan 9: Arunachal Pradesh’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested two individuals on Thursday for their alleged involvement as brokers in a major land compensation scam linked to the Lada-Sarli section of the Frontier Highway in East Kameng district.

The accused, identified as Rajo Gyadi (46) of Tassomora village and Yayo Yangfo (36) of T-II Colony in Seppa, are alleged to have manipulated compensation awards in collusion with former District Land Records and Settlement Officer (DLRSO) Takam Kechak, according to ACB officials.

Investigators said the syndicate collected bribes totaling Rs 19.51 crore from beneficiaries. Gyadi reportedly received Rs 1.96 crore through post-dated cheques deposited into his personal and firm-linked accounts, while Yangfo is alleged to have facilitated transactions amounting to Rs 1.77 crore.

The investigation gained momentum following the arrest of another suspect, Khya Byagang, whose interrogation revealed key financial trails. The scam involves irregularities in the Rs 130-crore compensation package for the 125.5-km strategic highway section, which is crucial for connectivity along the India-China border.

ACB sources indicated that further arrests are expected as authorities continue scrutinizing financial evidence.
