Itanagar, Feb 19: Arunachal Pradesh will showcase its rich cultural heritage and tourism at the “Festival of Arunachal,” starting February 21 at Dilli Haat. The two-day event, organized by the state tourism department, will present indigenous arts, crafts, cuisine, and tourism attractions from the northeastern state.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and Arunachal Pradesh Education Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona will attend as chief guests. The festival will feature folk music, cultural performances, and an ethnic fashion show displaying traditional attire from Arunachal Pradesh’s diverse tribal communities.
A highlight of the festival is the Yak Dance, representing the high-altitude Himalayan lifestyle and the bond between local communities and their environment. Visitors can also explore handlooms, bamboo and cane crafts, tribal jewelry, organic produce, and regional cuisine.
Arunachal Pradesh, home to more than 26 major tribes and over 100 sub-tribes, is often called the “Land of the Rising Sun.” The festival, open to the public free of charge, concludes on February 22.
