Assam Rifles, IIIT Manipur Ink MoU On Drone Technology Partnership

Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Manipur, inaugurated a partnership in drone technology with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Mantripukhri.

The ceremony was attended by Maj Gen Ravroop Singh, Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), and the Director of IIIT Manipur, highlighting the importance of defence–academia collaboration in advancing emerging technologies for national security. Both dignitaries stressed the growing role of drone systems in modern warfare and the need for joint initiatives to accelerate technology adoption.

As part of the event, an Advanced Drone Training and Refresher Course was also launched, aimed at enhancing the technical skills of Assam Rifles personnel. The course covers drone operations, maintenance, and certification in line with DGCA standards, with applications in surveillance, reconnaissance, and logistics support.

The programme brought together around 80 participants, including defence personnel and IIIT Manipur faculty, reflecting a shared vision of innovation-driven security and self-reliance in drone technology.
