In a major anti-narcotics operation, Assam Rifles recovered 1.377 kilograms of heroin valued at approximately Rs 211.40 crore in Zokhawthar, Champhai district, Mizoram.
The operation, carried out on Tuesday in the World Bank Road–Vawkte Kai area, was based on specific intelligence regarding drug trafficking. Troops intercepted three individuals attempting to collect a concealed package, which was later found to contain Heroin No. 4.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Zarzosanga, Joseph Lalmuansanga, and Malsawmkimi. Both the drugs and the suspects were handed over to the Customs and Narcotics Department, Champhai, for legal proceedings.
This operation follows another seizure earlier this month, when Assam Rifles recovered 2.372 kilograms of methamphetamine tablets worth over Rs 7.11 crore from an abandoned bag in Zokhawthar. The contraband was subsequently handed to Zokhawthar Police for investigation.
Officials said the recent operations demonstrate Assam Rifles’ ongoing efforts to curb narcotics trafficking in Mizoram’s border areas.
