In a major anti-narcotics operation, Assam Rifles, in coordination with Mizoram Police, seized 15 kilograms of methamphetamine tablets valued at around Rs 45 crore in Ngopa under Saitual district.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of narcotics along the Ngopa–Saitual Road, a joint team launched an operation on the intervening night of November 12 and 13. During the operation, security personnel intercepted a suspected vehicle at a check post in the Ngopa area, leading to the recovery of the contraband.
Two individuals, identified as Rabizul Haq, son of Sazuddin, and Naasiruddin, son of Adul Hassan, both residents of Barpeta district in Assam, were apprehended. The seized meth tablets, along with the vehicle and the accused, were handed over to Saitual Police for further investigation and legal proceedings.
Officials said the seizure was among the largest in Mizoram in recent times and highlighted the ongoing efforts of Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police to combat drug trafficking in the region. Authorities also urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by reporting any suspicious activity related to narcotics.
