4.1 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Assam’s Karbi Anglong District

An earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale struck Assam’s Karbi Anglong district on the morning of July 8, 2025, the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) reported.

The tremor occurred at 9:22 am IST at a depth of 25 kilometres. The epicentre was located at latitude 26.51°N and longitude 93.15°E.

NCS shared the update on X, stating: “EQ of M: 4.1, On: 08/07/2025 09:22:19 IST, Lat: 26.51 N, Long: 93.15 E, Depth: 25 Km, Location: Karbi Anglong, Assam.”

The incident comes a day after two earthquakes of magnitude 4.5 were recorded in the Andaman Sea on July 6 and 7.

No casualties or damage have been reported so far. Further information is awaited.
