Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Assam on Monday to inaugurate key projects aimed at enhancing security and promoting cultural heritage, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Saturday.

During his visit, Shah will inaugurate a new building for the Guwahati Police Commissionerate and an Integrated Command and Control System (ICCS). The ICCS is designed to monitor over 2,000 CCTV cameras across Guwahati, strengthening the city’s security and emergency response capabilities.

“A major boost to Guwahati’s safety. On 29th December, Adarniya AmitShah ji is set to inaugurate Guwahati’s new Police Commissionerate and an Integrated Command and Control Centre, which will monitor over 2,000 CCTVs to bolster security and emergency response systems,” Sarma posted on X.

Apart from the security projects, Shah will visit Batadrava Than in Nagaon district, the birthplace of Vaishnav saint Srimanta Sankardeva. He will inaugurate the redevelopment project there, which the state government restored after removing encroachments. “Batadrava Than, freed from encroachments, is now a shining example of what steely resolve can do for the protection of our heritage,” Sarma said.

Shah will also unveil the Jyoti Bishnu Cultural Complex in Guwahati, a 5,000-seat auditorium aimed at promoting Assam’s cultural landscape.
