Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive in Assam on Thursday for a two-day visit to review the Bharatiya Janata Party’s organisational preparations ahead of the 2026 assembly elections.
Shah will first attend a meeting of the state BJP’s core committee in Guwahati to assess the party’s ground-level readiness. In the evening, he is scheduled to hold informal discussions with senior leaders over dinner.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the visit underlines Shah’s close monitoring of Assam’s election preparedness and added that the focus will be on strategies for the upcoming polls.
