Guwahati, Jan 23: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to visit Dibrugarh on January 30, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Thursday. During the visit, Shah will lay the foundation stone for the state’s second legislative assembly complex and address a public rally at Khanikar playground in Upper Assam.
The Assam government is developing Dibrugarh as a second capital, where a new assembly and secretariat complex will be constructed. Shah had previously visited the state on December 29 to inaugurate several projects and address a public meeting.
Chief Minister Sarma also said he was monitoring the situation in trouble-hit Kokrajhar and confirmed that the area is now peaceful.
