Guwahati, January 30: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has accused the Congress party of encouraging infiltration from Bangladesh, saying it has led to a significant demographic shift in Assam. Addressing a rally in Dhemaji, Shah claimed that 64 lakh illegal immigrants have settled in seven districts of Assam – Dhubri, Barpeta, Darrang, Morigaon, Bongaigaon, Nagaon, and Goalpara – during the Congress rule.

Shah urged the people of Assam to vote for the BJP to stop the influx of infiltrators, stating that the party is committed to identifying and deporting them. He also highlighted the BJP government’s efforts to free land from encroachment, saying over 1.26 lakh acres have been reclaimed.

The Home Minister criticized the Congress for allegedly using infiltrators as a vote bank, compromising Assam’s culture and security. The BJP has vowed to drive out all illegal immigrants, not just from Assam but from the entire country.
