Assam: 42 Arrested For Allegedly ‘Defending Pakistan’ After Pahalgam Terror Attack

Guwahati, May 5: Assam Police have arrested 42 individuals from various districts for allegedly “defending Pakistan” in the aftermath of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The update was shared by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma late Sunday night.

Sarma, in a post on X, said that three more individuals: one each from Barpeta, Hojai, and Chirang districts were apprehended on Sunday, taking the total number of arrests to 42.

“Update on crackdown against traitors for defending Pakistan on Indian soil… Total of 42 anti-nationals put behind bars,” the Chief Minister wrote.

The arrests are part of a statewide crackdown launched by the Assam Police. Authorities are continuing investigations into the alleged activities of the accused.
