Assam: Alleged Ragging In Dibrugarh University Receives Strong Condemnation From CM; 3 Held

The Assam Police nabbed three students following the incident in which a student at the Dibrugarh University leaped from the hostel building to avoid ragging.

This tragic incident, which occurred on Sunday at the premises of the university’s PNGB Hostel, after receiving strong condemnation from the Assam Chief Minister – Himanta Biswa Sarma.

According to the media reports, the police said that the three detained students had reportedly ragged their junior, a native of Amguri. Following the incident, the victim leaped from the two-storied hostel building. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. However, the prime suspect is still absconding.

Taking to Twitter, the Assam Chief Minister – Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote “It has come to notice that a Dibrugarh University student is hurt in an alleged case of ragging. Close watch maintained & followup action coordinated with district admn. Efforts on to nab the accused, victim being provided medical care. Appeal to students, say NO to Ragging.”
