Guwahati, Jan 24: The Budget Session (Vote on Account) of the Assam Legislative Assembly will commence on Monday, February 16, 2026, at 9:30 am in the Assembly Chamber at Dispur.
According to a notification issued by the Assam Legislative Assembly Secretariat, Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya has summoned the session under Article 174(1) of the Constitution of India. The Governor is expected to be present on the opening day. The state budget is likely to be tabled on February 17, subject to approval by the Business Advisory Committee (BAC).
Meanwhile, ahead of the national Budget Session of Parliament, an all-party meeting of floor leaders from both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha will be held on January 27 in the main Committee Room of Parliament. The meeting will be chaired by Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju. Discussions are expected to focus on key national issues and the proposed legislative agenda.
The Budget Session of Parliament will begin on January 28 and continue until April 2, with a recess in between. The session will be held in two phases—from January 28 to February 13, and from March 9 to April 2—comprising a total of 30 sittings. The Union Budget for 2026–27 will be presented on February 1, following an address by President Droupadi Murmu to members of both Houses of Parliament. The all-party meeting is aimed at ensuring smooth conduct of the session.
