The Assam unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday announced the formation of an 18-member core committee as part of preparations for the 2026 Assembly elections. The committee aims to streamline poll planning and reinforce the party’s leadership in the state.
State BJP president Dilip Saikia confirmed that the committee was constituted with the approval of BJP national president J.P. Nadda.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, currently on a two-day visit to Assam, is scheduled to meet the newly formed team later tonight. The meeting is expected to focus on election strategy and assess the party’s readiness for the upcoming polls.
