In a landmark initiative, the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), under the leadership of Chief Pramod Boro, has launched the “BTR Community Vision Document,” aimed at uniting the 26 communities of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) and creating a collective framework for progress and prosperity.
The document was officially unveiled at a ceremony in Guwahati on Monday, with the presence of Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Assam Cabinet Ministers Atul Bora, Ranjeet Kumar Dass, Ranoj Pegu, Ashok Singhal, UG Brahma, MP Dilip Saikia, BTC Chief Pramod Boro, State Chief Secretary Ravi Kota, and DGP GP Singh.
Pramod Boro described the Vision Document as a product of a participatory exercise that involved various ethnic groups and communities from the region. The initiative aims to address long-standing issues, ensure justice, equality, and preserve cultural identities while promoting peace and development for all communities. He stressed that the document would serve as a guiding framework for government policies and development strategies tailored to the region’s diverse needs.
“This is a small but significant step toward ensuring the rights of all communities in the region, providing them with justice and equality,” said Boro. He added that the initiative would empower both communities and government functionaries to work together for the region’s development.
Along with the Vision Document, the BTC also released specific vision plans for different communities, including Bodo, Santal, Rabha, Garo, Bengali, and Muslim communities, among others.
Assam Agriculture Minister Atul Bora praised the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and BTC Chief Pramod Boro for bringing lasting peace and development to the BTR region. He expressed confidence that the Community Vision Document would help fulfill the aspirations of all communities and accelerate the region’s progress.
This initiative follows the 2020 Bodo Peace Accord, which ended years of violence and set the stage for sustainable peace, harmony, and development in the Bodoland region.
