Assam Cabinet Appoints Blind World Cup Winner Simu Das As physical Instructor

The Assam Cabinet on Thursday approved the appointment of Simu Das, a member of the Indian women’s team that won the T20 Blind World Cup, as a physical instructor under the Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare.

Simu Das, a resident of Nagaon district, played a key role in the final against Nepal in Colombo, scoring 86 runs and taking one wicket to help India clinch the title. She was named Player of the Match for her all-round performance.

Among other decisions, the Cabinet approved land allocation for the Ammonia-Urea Project, with the foundation stone scheduled to be laid on December 21.

The Cabinet also sanctioned the release of Rs 250 crore to the Bodoland Territorial Council from the Priority Development Fund (Rural) for the financial year 2025–26.

In a move aimed at conservation, Kumari Beel spanning 270 hectares and Dhamar Beel spanning 337 hectares in Goalpara district were declared Proposed Reserved Forests under the Assam Forest Regulation, 1891.

The Cabinet further approved the transfer of 607 bighas of government land at Kareng Chapori in Dhemaji district for setting up a Central Reserve Police Force Group Centre. It also cleared land allotment to 308 families under Mission Basundhara.
