The Assam cabinet has approved a ₹600-crore skill development initiative aimed at establishing education centres across the state, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Thursday.
The project will be jointly funded by the Assam government and Tata-owned Nelco Limited, which has been designated as the state’s strategic partner for the mission.
Under the initiative, 50 hub centres and 500 spoke centres will be set up across Assam to provide skill-based training to youths. The project will be implemented in collaboration with the Sarba Siksha Abhiyan (SSA).
Chief Minister Sarma said the initiative underscores the government’s commitment to equipping young people with employable skills and strengthening the state’s human resource ecosystem.
