Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday distributed grants, flood relief, and seed funds to beneficiaries in Golaghat district under various state schemes, aimed at supporting women, flood-affected families, and microfinance loan defaulters.
CM Sarma announced that over 5,000 women in Golaghat received ‘No Dues Certificates’ for unpaid loans from microfinance institutions. More than 2,000 flood-affected families were also given financial relief, while approximately 200 women were granted seed funds of Rs 40,000 each to support their entrepreneurial activities.
The Chief Minister further emphasized the ongoing “12 Days of Development” initiative, which has already benefitted many families in the district. He also revealed that from December 15, the state government will begin distributing ration cards to those who lack them, and between December 15 and 28, the beneficiaries for the Orunodoi scheme will be selected.
Earlier, CM Sarma laid the foundation for the Jorhat town water supply scheme to address long-standing water supply issues. The “Drink from Tap” project, with an investment of Rs 220 crore, aims to provide 24/7 access to clean drinking water using advanced infrastructure and technology.
These efforts are part of the Assam government’s ongoing commitment to driving development and enhancing the quality of life for its people.
