Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday announced a contribution of Rs 5 crore to the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to support ongoing flood relief and rehabilitation efforts.
Sarma expressed condolences to families who lost their lives in the floods and wished a speedy recovery for those affected. He said the aid reflects the solidarity of the people of Assam with the residents of Himachal Pradesh.
Himachal Pradesh has been severely impacted by heavy monsoon rains, causing widespread disruption. According to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), the death toll has reached 366, including 203 deaths due to rain-related incidents and 163 in road accidents.
The SEOC reported 866 roads remain blocked, including three National Highways—NH-03, NH-05, and NH-305. Districts most affected include Kullu (225), Mandi (191), Shimla (154), Chamba (116), Sirmaur (45), Kangra (42), Una (33), Solan (22), Bilaspur (18), Lahaul & Spiti (11), Kinnaur (6), and Hamirpur (3).
Power supply has also been hit, with 1,572 distribution transformers out of order. Kullu reported the highest damage with 873 affected transformers, followed by Mandi (259) and Lahaul & Spiti (142).
The contribution from Assam aims to support relief and rehabilitation operations in the flood-affected areas of Himachal Pradesh.
