Assam CM Assesses Readiness For PM Modi’s Namrup Visit On December 21

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday chaired a review meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Dibrugarh to assess preparations ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Namrup on December 21. The meeting was attended by ministers, MLAs, and senior state government officials.

According to the state government, the Prime Minister will be on a two-day visit to Assam on December 20 and 21. During the visit, he is expected to inaugurate the new terminal building of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Borjhar, Guwahati, and unveil a statue of Bharat Ratna Gopinath Bordoloi. Modi will also lay the foundation stone for an ammonia-urea project in Namrup, with an investment of around ₹12,000 crore and a proposed annual production capacity of 12 lakh metric tonnes. A public rally by the Prime Minister is also planned.

At the review meeting, CM Sarma directed officials to ensure comprehensive arrangements for all scheduled events. He stressed the importance of security, availability of refreshments, drinking water facilities, hygiene, traffic control, parking arrangements, and primary medical services for attendees.

The meeting was attended by Education Minister Ranoj Pegu, Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika, Power Minister Prasanta Phukan, Industries and Commerce Minister Bimal Borah, Cooperation Minister Jogen Mohan, Labour Welfare Minister Rupesh Gowala, several MLAs, and senior officials including Chief Secretary Ravi Kota.

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister visited the venue of the Prime Minister’s public meeting in Namrup to review preparations on site. Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika, Power Minister Prasanta Phukan, MLAs Taranga Gogoi and Terosh Gowala, and Chief Secretary Ravi Kota accompanied him during the inspection.
