Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday provided financial assistance to two individuals injured in the recent police firing in Baksa district.
The incident occurred amid unrest during the transfer of five accused linked to singer Zubeen Garg’s death case to a local jail. During his visit to Lakshmipur A Block village, the Chief Minister met the injured, Dipak Medhi and Bidyut Kalita, and handed over ₹2 lakh each as relief.
A statement from the Chief Minister’s Public Relations Cell stated that the police opened fire to disperse the crowd and bring the situation under control.
