Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma formally launched the Blue Valley Cluster at Radisson Blu in Guwahati during a high-level engagement with “Team Europe,” a delegation of European Union diplomats and corporate leaders led by EU Ambassador to India, Herve Delphin. The two-day visit, beginning June 8, marks a significant step in strengthening trade cooperation, investment frameworks, and strategic commercial linkages between European markets and Northeast India.

The delegation, comprising ambassadors and senior representatives from EU member states, is exploring opportunities across diverse sectors including green energy, eco-friendly infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, semiconductors, electronics, tea, and agro-processing. Their itinerary also includes a tour of India’s first semiconductor facility under construction at Jagiroad in Morigaon district.
A key highlight of the visit was the unveiling of Assam’s inaugural Blue Valley Cluster, envisioned as a specialised industrial hub for flavours, fragrances, AYUSH products, and food processing. Designed under a public-private-people partnership model, the cluster aims to build strong commercial and academic networks between European markets, Northeast India, and Bhutan. The initiative is part of the broader “Blue Valleys” framework introduced at the 2026 EU-India Summit, which focuses on empowering small businesses, developing industrial hubs, and creating sustainable market pipelines.
The envoys also participated in the seminar “Blue Valleys: Building Ecosystems and Value Chains Between India and Europe,” which brought together policymakers, business leaders, and entrepreneurs from both continents to deliberate on supply-chain logistics and sustainable industrial growth. The engagement reflects the growing importance of Northeast India as a hub for international investment, driven by its geographical significance, natural resources, and accelerating industrial development.
