Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the national capital to review the progress of ongoing welfare initiatives and development projects in the state. The meeting, which lasted around 20 minutes at Shah’s residence, focused on accelerating socio-economic growth and strengthening welfare measures in Assam.
Following the meeting, the Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the Union Home Minister for his continued support in advancing Assam’s development agenda. He emphasized the importance of effective implementation of both central and state government programmes aimed at improving public welfare.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Sarma stated that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the death of singer Zubeen Garg is likely to submit its chargesheet before December 8. He reiterated that the case is being treated as a murder investigation and not an accidental death. The Chief Minister added that since the incident took place abroad, approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs is required before filing the chargesheet, which is expected within the next few days.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister made serious allegations against Congress MP and Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Gaurav Gogoi, calling him “a 100 per cent Pakistani agent.” Sarma challenged Gogoi to initiate legal action, stating he would disclose further details after the submission of the Zubeen Garg case chargesheet.
