Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will be the chief guest at Bhutan’s National Day celebrations on December 17, 2024. This marks the first time an Assam Chief Minister has been invited to the prestigious event, emphasizing the growing diplomatic ties between Assam and Bhutan.
The National Day festivities, which will take place in Thimphu, will feature a special address by Bhutan’s King, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk. CM Sarma’s attendance is expected to further strengthen the bilateral relations between India and Bhutan.
In a statement shared on social media, Sarma expressed his gratitude for the invitation, saying, “I am on my way to Thimphu to attend Bhutan’s National Day celebrations at the invitation of His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk.
