Guwahati, June 28: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has intervened in the controversy surrounding Cabinet Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah’s alleged remarks against a journalist, describing the comment as “inappropriate”. The minister’s comments, made during a press conference on June 27, 2025, sparked widespread condemnation from journalists and press associations across the state.

The Chief Minister has urged Minister Baruah to issue a public apology and has also expressed regret on his behalf.
