Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday invited Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to visit Assam and lay the foundation stone of the upcoming Kanaklata Barua University in Gohpur.
Taking to his official X handle, Sarma stated that the proposed university will be dedicated to freedom fighter Birangana Kanaklata Barua and will focus on an industry-oriented academic approach. He added that the institution will offer specialised programmes in emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, and Robotics.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also shared details of her meeting with the Assam Chief Minister in New Delhi. She noted that the meeting was also attended by Minister of State for External Affairs & Textiles Pabitra Margherita, Lok Sabha MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, and Rajya Sabha MPs Rameswar Teli and Kanad Purkayastha.
