Guwahati, July 7: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday launched the ‘Bodoland Speaks: From Vision to Action’ initiative to promote linguistic inclusivity and cultural development in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). The programme, held at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati, was organised by the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) under the Bodoland Happiness Mission.
As part of the launch, the Chief Minister unveiled the BTR Communication Bridge, a multilingual resource featuring 1001 words and 1001 sentences in 18 regional languages. He also released key publications, including Transforming Bodoland – A Journey of Change in BTR, Lookin’ Within: My Reflections by BTC Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro, and the Annual Report of the Bodoland Happiness Mission (2024–25).
In recognition of cultural contributions, 18 individuals were honoured with the Bodoland Lifetime Achievers Award for their role in preserving folk traditions.
Speaking at the event, Sarma credited the Bodoland Peace Accord for bringing lasting peace and development to the region and highlighted the achievements of the Bodoland Happiness Mission in promoting inclusive governance.
Fulfilling a key demand of the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU), the Chief Minister announced that the state government will translate all official notifications into the Bodo language in the 13 Bodo-inhabited districts.
The programme also included the launch of two additional initiatives — the Bodoland Engaged Ethnography Initiative and the Bodoland Migrant Women Livelihood Support Programme — aimed at promoting community-based research and supporting livelihood opportunities for migrant women in BTR.
