Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday inaugurated an online portal for indigenous residents of designated “sensitive areas” to apply for arms licences.

The initiative is aimed at enabling responsible citizens to assist authorities in maintaining peace and law and order. Sarma emphasized that licences will be issued only after a strict multi-layered verification process.
