Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma presented the state’s campaign against child marriage as a model initiative during the NDA Chief Ministers’ Conclave held in the national capital on Sunday. The conclave was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to an official statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Modi lauded Assam’s sustained crackdown on child marriage and urged other NDA-ruled states to emulate the state’s approach to build a healthier society.

Addressing the media at Assam House on Monday evening, CM Sarma said his presentation received appreciation from the Prime Minister, Union Ministers, and Chief Ministers of NDA-ruled states. He credited the success to continuous police action and strong community cooperation.

Modi also directed senior officials to visit Assam to observe the implementation of the campaign and understand the strategies that have contributed to the decline in child marriage cases.

The conclave also featured presentations from other states on best practices in areas such as education, grievance redressal, water conservation, women empowerment, sports, and administrative reforms.
