Guwahati, Feb 19: The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is fully ready to ensure security during the assembly elections in five states, CRPF Director General GP Singh said on Thursday.
Speaking to PTI after attending the CRPF DG’s Parade in Guwahati, Singh said the force has been coordinating closely with the Election Commission, state administrations, and police forces. “We are fully prepared and have held several rounds of discussion with the Election Commission as well as the state administrations and police forces concerned,” he stated.
The assembly elections are scheduled in Assam, West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry. As the national nodal agency for deploying central paramilitary forces, CRPF will play a key role in maintaining law and order during the polls.
Addressing Assam’s polling schedule, Singh noted requests from political parties for single-phase elections. “We are prepared for whichever way the Election Commission decides and whatever directions are given to us by the Ministry of Home Affairs. We will do it accordingly,” he added.
