Guwahati, Jul 23: The Silchar Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Wednesday continued its eviction drive for the third consecutive day in Assam’s Barak Valley town of Silchar, officials said.

The drive, aimed at clearing encroachments and easing congestion, was carried out early in the morning by SMC officials, enforcement personnel, and police across key roads and walkways.

According to an official release, unauthorised street vendors and temporary stalls occupying footpaths and roadways were removed to restore free movement for pedestrians and vehicles.
