Guwahati, April 10: The Panbazar Police Station has registered a First Information Report against Kunki Choudhary, the Assam Jatiya Parishad candidate for the Guwahati Central Assembly Constituency, following allegations of election norm violations during the polling on April 9, 2026. The investigation targets the candidate alongside her social media team and a political worker identified as Sandeep Yadav for multiple reported irregularities.

The official complaint asserts that Yadav remained within the constituency during the mandatory 48-hour silence period despite movement restrictions for campaign-related personnel. Furthermore, the FIR alleges that Choudhary entered a polling station with an unauthorized group to interact with voters, a move that potentially influenced the electoral process.

Additional claims include the presence of vehicles linked to the candidate within restricted zones and the entry of her personal security detail into polling premises without the required legal authorization.

Authorities have reportedly received digital and video evidence to support the claims of prohibited voter contact during the silence period. In response to these developments, Kunki Choudhary stated via social media that several members of her team were detained overnight and that she visited the police station to record her statement according to legal protocol.

Denying all allegations, she maintained that her campaign adhered strictly to Election Commission guidelines and characterized the police action as a politically motivated attempt to curb her party’s rising public support.
