Assam Pradesh Congress Committee President Gaurav Gogoi on Monday expressed support for the proposal to name the Dibrugarh airport after cultural icon Dr. Bhupen Hazarika.

Speaking ahead of the debate in the Assam Legislative Assembly, Gogoi also highlighted the need for improved air connectivity in Upper Assam. He pointed out that cities like Dibrugarh, Guwahati, Jorhat, and Silchar face limited flight options, especially during emergencies.

“In the evening, if someone in Dibrugarh has a medical emergency, there is no flight available,” he said. Gogoi added that the Congress party would raise this issue during the discussion and press the government to address the gaps in flight services across the region.
