Guwahati, Mar 10: The Assam government has approved a ₹30 increase in the daily wages of tea plantation workers, according to an official notification issued on March 7. The revised wage will come into effect from April 1, 2026.

The increase will apply to workers employed in both estate tea gardens and small tea gardens across the state, one of India’s largest tea-producing regions.

The decision follows a recommendation made by the state’s Minimum Wages Advisory Board during its meeting held on February 26. The notification stated that the interim wage increase has been sanctioned by the Governor of Assam.

The revised wage will be implemented across tea plantations in the state starting April 1.
