Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya and Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh attended the passing out parade at the Lachit Barphukan Police Academy (LBPA) in Golaghat district on Monday. A total of 1,946 recruits successfully completed their training at the academy, marking a significant milestone in their policing careers.
The recruits, drawn from 9 India Reserve (IR) Battalions and 6 Manipur Rifles Battalions, commenced their training on January 29, 2024. Originally, 1,984 recruits had enrolled, but 1,946 graduated after completing the program, which was extended due to a two-week midterm break and late arrivals.
LBPA was selected for the training program due to its proven track record, having trained nearly 7,000 recruits, including personnel from the Forest Department, in the past two years. The academy’s curriculum, incorporating scientific and practical approaches, is designed to meet contemporary policing demands.
The comprehensive training included physical fitness, small arms handling, unarmed combat, crowd control, disaster management, law enforcement, soft skills, and tactical operations. Given the ongoing law and order challenges in Manipur, special emphasis was placed on endurance, long-distance marches, firing proficiency, and intensive unarmed combat (UAC) training.
Additionally, the program focused on fostering national integration, mental resilience, and unit cohesion, preparing the recruits for deployment in high-risk environments.
