Guwahati, May 10: The Assam Government has decided to adopt austerity measures in solidarity with the armed forces, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Saturday.
Addressing a press conference to mark the completion of his four years in office, Sarma revealed that the state cabinet has resolved to suspend the organization of seminars, conferences, workshops, and commemorative events.
The decision is part of the government’s efforts to support soldiers and their families from Assam.
Sarma also chaired a cabinet meeting before addressing the media.
